Morning Reading: Maikon Bonani Back at Practice

It looks like Mr. Sky Ride will be alright after all.  USF kicker Maikon Bonani made an odd decision when jumping onto the outside of a gondola at the Busch Gardens’ sky ride earlier this year.  One that it seems anyone in their right mind wouldn’t make.  But Bonani probably had the safety of the passengers in his mind and literally didn’t think before he leapt.  The door hadn’t shut and Bonani attempted to close it.  Unfortunately, his attempt resulted in a fall that put him in the hospital and off the football field.

Luckily for Bonani, his injury wasn’t serious and it may have been a bigger bruise to his ego.  Unluckily for the Bulls, they had to go with other options in the kicking game until he could return.  And return he has.  Well, sort of.

Bonani returned to practice on Monday and participated in kicking drills.  This is a good sign for someone who could’ve suffered very serious injuries in such an acrobatic attempt.  But don’t get too excited too quickly USF fans.  Although Bonani is back at practice, don’t expect to see him on the field this year.  With only four regular season games left on the schedule, it looks like Bonani will remain on the shelf until 2010.  If the Eric Schwartz that showed up against West Virginia continues to perform, that may not be such of a bad thing.
